Art speaks the language of the individual mind through the spirit of creative action. The purpose of my art is to make tangible that part of myself which cannot always be said in words. Words can be written with feeling and emotion, but they cannot lead me past the moment. However, through painting, I start in that moment and end in a different place. Within the painting process, I am working with different elements. The physical construction of the wood with its many forms allows me to feel grounded and gives me a strong foundation on which these images are born. These painted images represent personal thoughts and experiences through dream symbols, familiar objects, and my own reflection. With each stroke of paint I am releasing those thoughts in my mind that cannot be said; they must be acted upon. In this creative state I develop a greater knowledge of myself. I believe that this knowledge is a vital form of human consciousness that must be fed in order to grow and move within this life.
